MCT Telecommunications attended the FTTH Council Conference in LuxembourgFTTH 2016

February 2016, Centurion - The FTTH Conference in Europe has grown significantly since 2004 and has become the largest FTTH event in the world. Johan
Kleynhans, CEO of MCT Telecommunications and Board Member of the FTTH Council Africa recently attended the latest one in Luxembourg during early February 2016.

Organised by the FTTH Council Europe, with each annual edition held in a different European city, the three-day event was all-inclusive with conference, workshops, exhibition, hands-on demos and first-class catering.

Attended by some 3000 delegates from 96 countries, the theme of this year's conference was "Calling for a brighter future". The opening speech was conducted by Xavier Bettel, Prime Minister of Luxembourg. 

The conference presents unique networking opportunities as well as a chance to see new technologies and products on show. Next year's conference is due to take place in Marseille in France.

 

Sisonke School Project – Bringing Maths and Science to Communities through Fibre Optics

March 2014, Midrand - As part of its Corporate Social Investment Initiative, MCT Telecommunications - in conjunction with Dark Fibre Africa, recently completed work on the Sisonke School Project, which involved the building and provisioning of a one kilometre fibre-optic communication network for three schools, from Mamelodi East to Pretoria East in Gauteng. The aim of the Sisonke School Project is to ensure that the beneficiaries, all of whom are black pupils, have the ability to participate in both Maths and Science curriculum studies.
