MCT Telecommunications initiated its Black Economic Empowerment strategy in 2004, and have since achieved considerable success in evolving this to include all levels of the company.

MCT is a wholly owned subsidiary of CI Ventures, an investment holding company focused on the telecommunications and power sectors. The majority of the company's equity is held by two black owned investors, New GX Capital and Community Investment Holdings.

Community Investment Holdings (Pty) Ltd (CIH) was established in 1995 by Dr Anna Mokgokong and Joe Madungandaba.

CIH is 100% black-owned, with significant interests in six vital areas of the economy:

• Healthcare
• Technology
• Telecommunication
• Logistics
• Mining
• Power and Energy

To date, MCT has significant PDI representation in its Equity Shareholding, Board of Directors, Executive Management and Operational Levels. Furthermore, MCT has extended this strategy to its selection of sub-contractors, affirmative procurement, as well as corporate social responsibility spending.
